About Us

Passion, Knowledge and Commitment

PLANET-2.com is a center of knowledge and innovation that was created through the collaborative efforts of outstanding professionals in the fields of neonatology, transfusion and clinical sciences. We are a team of dedicated physicians, scientists, nurses and other professionals who are committed to one goal: to improve the health of newborns around the world through research of the highest quality.

Our Story

The PLANET-2 (Platelets and Neonatal Transfusion Study) project began as a response to the urgent need for solid scientific evidence on prophylactic platelet transfusions in newborns. We knew there was a huge gap in clinical knowledge and decided to fill it by conducting the only randomized, controlled trial on the subject. Our initiative gained the support of many leading medical and scientific institutions, which allowed us to form an international team of experts.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide irrefutable evidence that will have a direct impact on clinical practice and standards of care for newborns. We want to provide neonatologists and other specialists with the tools and knowledge needed to make better medical decisions, ultimately saving lives and improving the health of our youngest patients.

Who We Are

Research Team

Our research team is the heart of the PLANET-2 project. It consists of highly qualified specialists who have many years of experience in conducting clinical trials and neonatal transfusions:
  • Dr. Anna Williams - Principal Investigator, a neonatologist with over 20 years of experience.
  • Prof. Cloud Lee - Clinical transfusion expert and university lecturer.
  • Dr. Eve Miller - Clinical statistician, specialist in medical data analysis.

Partners and Cooperation

PLANET-2 is a project that could not develop without extensive cooperation with medical institutions, universities and non-profit organizations. Our key partners are:
  • International Organization of Transfusiology - supporting us substantively and logistically.
  • Medical University of Warsaw - providing us with the necessary scientific background.
  • Neonatology Hospitals in Europe and North America - enabling us to recruit participants and collect data.

What Distinguishes Us

  • Innovation - PLANET-2 is the first and only study of its kind to evaluate threshold platelet levels in newborns in a randomized, controlled manner.
  • Global Reach - Our study is conducted internationally, involving hospitals and specialists from around the world.
  • Focus on Clinical Practice - Our results are directly applicable to clinical practice, influencing real-world medical decisions and improving standards of care.
